"I just sent out the newsletter. Worked slick as ice! Looked awesome. Thank you!"
The Edge Ministry was a growing Christian newsletter ministry that targeted college students and young adults. The founder, Kim Kinney, knew that in order to keep up with the growth of the ministry, a website had become a necessity. Her e-ministry’s process of sending plain text emails with attached Word documents was also showing its age. The targeted demographic needed to receive something that felt more age appropriate.
1310 Studios began by creating a logo that would act as the starting point for defining the Edge’s brand. The Edge was reaching young adults of varying levels of faith and didn’t want to appear too aggressive for those they wanted to reach the most. For this reason, It was important to have an energy and excitement associated with the brand, while staying away from something overtly Christian. In the chosen solution, a compromise was made by making a cross visible within the mark but not making it the focal point. The website took The Edge Ministry to a new level by allowing subscribers to interact with each other for the first time. Not only were the newsletters themselves now in a more dynamic html email format, subscribers could also comment on newsletter postings on the site and start discussions in the online forums. Business cards and print pieces were also created to help promote the ministry and its new website.
