Grilling Companion

Challenge

Grilling Companion was an online grilling magazine that was getting a lot of traffic from their great recipes and SEO efforts. While their traffic was growing they lacked the professional look to take their site to the next level. They needed to separate themselves from the sea of recipe blogs available online by offering a better user experience coupled with a unique and memorable look to encourage repeat visits.

Solution

1310 Studios created a unique logotype that used grilling utensils to illustrate the company’s focus in a simple and powerful way. In addition, a new color scheme was rolled out as well as a system of slab serif fonts to be used for headings. The result was a cohesive brand that worked wonderfully both in print and on the web. The website was redesigned completely with a home page that highlighted featured recipes and new landing pages for recipes, news and tips. These key pages focused on delivering the content in a more immediate and user-centric way. Popular recipe categories were now up front and center and the latest news was promoted in easily digestible highlights. The rebrand and web site redesign elevated Grilling Companion from a recipe blog to a site that better reflected their status as a grilling magazine and resource for thousands of viewers.
